Suffering for God's Glory - 1st Peter 4:12-19

Suffering for God's Glory - 1st Peter 4:12-19
12
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. 16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.
17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now
“If the righteous one is scarcely saved,
Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”
19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.

Sunday Funday!

Good morning everyone!  You may be questioning if it is really a good morning, so let me just tell you that it is!  It is SUNDAY FUNDAY!  Why am I so fired up?  I get to go spend the day at the Rock Church in San Diego.  I will be attending service at 8AM, then working in the count room for the 10 and noon service, and then going to a Communitas fellowship with my Impact peeps!  Oh...and it is my birthday!

After church, if I have energy, I will be packing to move.  I don't know if I will actually do this today or tomorrow, but it needs to get done!

Today is the Day the Lord has made!

Well..I caved in!  Here is my first attempt at a blog.  What does God have in store for me today?

Friday is community outreach day at Impact.  I talked to Dave B. last yesterday and he informed me that we were going to Hillcrest to do community service projects like picking up trash and offering to clean up in businesses.  For those of you who don't know, Hillcrest is a neighborhood in San Diego that is predominantly gay.  Being a Friday night, I am sure the streets will be full of people celebrating the weekend.

Normally this would not be an issue for me, but since I am trying to make changes where my lifestyle is concerned, I am not so sure I am looking forward to the service projects.  I need to talk to Dave to see if there are other options for me as I feel going to this part of town could lead me to stumble.  I know...sounds like I am whining...but I know me.  I don't want to stumble.
